As of Tuesday, June 16, 2020, California’s public health department has confirmed that the state remains in its second reopening phase. To assure that the COVID19 cases don’t skyrocket, a new statewide order was just put into place! California Gov. Gavin Newsom has just implemented an order that requires face coverings to be worn in MOST public settings - especially those indoors.
The news was just released via the governor’s office, as the nation’s third-largest state looks to maintain its progress. When asked why the order was issued, Newsom shared: “Simply put, we are seeing too many people with faces uncovered - putting at risk the real progress we have made in fighting the disease.”
He continued, “California’s strategy to restart the economy and get people back to work will only be successful if people act safely and follow health recommendations. That means wearing a face covering, washing your hands, and practicing physical distancing.”
As best practices, like required face coverings, become part of our new norm, it’s important to adhere to them. While the future of a pandemic-filled society is still very real, and we remain uncertain about its longevity, we can choose to make the necessary adjustments.
